How have you gone about defining your IT services? Which team leads this out? Do your services make sense to your Business?
Specifically to healthcare, I've attached a spreadsheet with a few different models to start a conversation around.
Hi Steve. Thanks for posting this question. Wish more people would be able to chime in! Here at Fairview we are just getting started on our Apptio Journey, but we have done a fair amount of work in defining IT services within our IT Service Management Office. We are struggling with how to relate "IT Services" which are specific applications, technologies, and services into a more business/clinically oriented view which will be meaningful to the business when considering TCO and making decisions about what they want. I feel like we are still offering them car parts and asking them to assemble their desired car!
I'm sure we'll have plenty more conversation around services . Despite little response, I get the sense it's a topic of interest with those I talk with. Juan José Jarillo posted a good response to a similar question here: (https://tbmcouncil.jiveon.com/message/4071?commentID=4071#comment-4071 ).
At Intermountain, we like to look at applications as one of many service assets that support a service or service offering. So many times it is a 1:1 relationship with a service, but now always. Many times we have multiple applications doing the same job. Additionally, we have other assets (hardware or otherwise) that support the service/service offering as well.
Happy to chat more if you'd like.
